Sharpshirter Interview up!

If you haven’t noticed anything different on the sidebar, then shame on you!

Just kidding. I finally got around to getting that Sharpshirter interview yesterday. So, if you haven’t, you should check that bad boy out. Huge thanks to both Dan from Sharpshirter and David, who did the interview, from Seibei. You’re both awesome.

In other news, I’ve finally gotten the wordpress stuff that I wanted worked out to work. So, that’s another big step for the new site that I’m still looking for feature suggestions on. Oh, and I personally think that the new member profiles look pretty freaking good. I’m trying to go through and break them still to make sure that they’re perfect and I’m not finding many flaws so far.

Last Call for Contests!

Alright, the new interview with Dan from Sharp Shirter (who just launched a new site with some new designs) is completed for the most part – just have to try and get some pictures. So, I’m ready to finally get to those contests I’ve been talking about for so long.

I’ve still got everyone who said they were interested in mind, I just want to know if you’re still interested. Let me know in the comments.

Contest Update

Just so you know, I haven’t forgotten about the contests that I was talking about a little while ago. I am also still looking for more shops that might be interested. I kind of want this to be a pretty massive list of free stuff people could get. I’m also waiting for everyone to be ready and to launch this list-o-contests with the interview David is working on with Sharpshirter.

So, those of you that said you were interested and were curious as to why I never contacted you yet, just be patient. It’s still coming.

Question to all

So, I’ve been thinking. If I were to make some one inch pins with the thread logo on them as well as a few other pins for Indie Threads, would anyone be interested?

I’ve been thinking about it for the past couple of days and I think it would be a pretty cool way to promote the site and raise a little extra cash for myself.

I’m thinking like a pack of four (for $3.50 or something) pins with one being the black, orange, and white thread logo. The only other idea I’ve come up with so far is something along the lines of text reading, “I visit indie-threads.com because it’s cool and so am I.”

What do you think?

Also, I promise to actually write about t-shirts and stuff again soon.

A couple of random things I’ve been thinking about…

Number one:  I’ve been tinkering around with the idea of converting the blog section to wordpress.
For those of you who didn’t know, it’s currently hand-coded and while it provides everything it needs to, should the reason for adding something cool to it arise, being able to just simply click “activate” from the plugin page in the admin of wordpress seems much much more convenient than taking hours/days/weeks/months trying to code and find tutorials on the subject. Plus, it controls archives and other stuff much better than this does. …And you could search through/for older posts.

Number two:  Articles and review posts?
An idea that struck me a little earlier tonight and probably some time when I started this site is to include some article based posts. Rather than page after page after page of reviews, I think it would be nice to see an occasional article. The kicker – I’ve not a clue on what kind of articles would be interesting or if I’m even grammatically inclined to write a coherent article. Any ideas on cool articles?

That’s about it. Don’t forget – if you’re a shop and want to set up a contest with us, let us know!

The New Site!!

Well, it’s finally here. The new site. What do you think?

Some new things: You now have an option to add a tagline. You can also now add your state and country. And your gender.

If you find any bugs, let me know.

Now, I’ve got to format the new interview with Andy from Hide Your Arms. Once that’s done, I’ll get it up here.

The interview is up. Check it, foo!

I’ll also be on the lookout for some new contests, so if you have a shop and are up for one, let me know either through here or you can contact me.

edit:I think there might have been a problem with the comments. I fixed it.

Oh, and if you’re wondering where the slogans under the logo are, don’t worry; they’re coming back. I just have to make the images up again.

A list of new features

Here are some new things in the works for the new site.

  • Gender
  • Location(state/providence and country)
  • user taglines/slogans/whatever you want to call them
  • profile stats
  • email notifications of new fans

There might be a few other things that I’m not thinking of at the moment, but I figured I’d give you a little idea of what’s making the new site take this long.

I’ve considered adding a music and movies section similar to the interests. Good idea or bad idea?

Is there anything not in the list that you think would be cool to have?

Help!

Okay, so I’ve been wandering the depths of the interwebs for about three hours trying to look for some awesome stuff to post around here. The only problem is that I cannot for the life of me find anything.

The closest I got was to Reverend Rainbow but right when I was getting ready to post about it, I noticed that their sizes are quite limited at the moment. They do have some pretty radical designs in mostly larger sizes though, if you’re interested in the strange name.

So, the discussion question for the time being is: What are some of the coolest shops or random things you’ve seen lately?

Craft Fair?

So, in an effort to promote Indie Threads some more, a few users and I have come up with an idea. This summer, The Renegade Craft Fair will be taking place both in both New York and Chicago. The price to get a booth is $210 and will pay for two days and all the permits.

The plan is getting a big vinyl banner for Indie Threads and having a booth with a few of the shops from the site. The reason behind this is to help some shops that might not otherwise be able to afford the $210 fee. This way, we could all split the cost evenly between the people interested.

The question, now, is this: Would you, as a shop be interested in splitting the cost of a booth in either of the cities? I mainly plan on Chicago, but maybe if there are enough people interested in New York, we might be able to arrange something.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • It’s a juried entry, meaning there’s a slight chance we might not be able to have a booth
  • The booth space is only 10′ x 10′
  • Travel and hotel costs

Well, what do you think?
